The information is systematized on national level and by type of hospital facility and dispensary care facility.

– Number of discharged patients and bed-days by hospital
facilities;
– Usage and turnover of beds in hospitals and average length of stay per patient;
– Hospitalized patients by type of hospital and major diagnoses;
– Number of surgeries by type of hospital facility and type of operation;
– Activities of obstetrics-gynecology wards of hospitals.
The information is presented in tables and graphs.
The information sources of the edition are the annual reports of the hospitals and dispensaries, which are being accumulated and processed in the National Center of Health Information.

Hospitalized morbidity in Republic of Bulgaria 2000-2008

The edition contains medico-statistical data on hospitalized cases in the in-patient healthcare facilities and dispensaries.
The sources are the annexes to the annual reports of healthcare facilities, which are received and processed on annual basis in the National Centre of Health Informatics. The information is systematized on national level and by types and groups of healthcare facilities. It is also processed in total as by classes of diseases, by nosology units, by clinical pathways and age groups.
The data in the edition are systematized in two main sections:

• All hospitalized cases only by reason of illness, trauma (I to XIX class) or due to other circumstances (XXI class).
• Hospitalized cases only by reason of illness, trauma (I to XIX class) i.e. hospitalized morbidity.

The information is presented in tables and graphs.

Disability in Republic of Bulgaria 2001-2009

The bulletin is produced on the basis of the Information System on Permanent Incapacity for work of the population above 18years of age and based on the annual processing of expert certifications by TELK and NELK.

• Primarily certified disabled persons(certified disabled)

The persons with certified permanent incapacity for work are characterized by gender, age, gravity and period of invalidity, for the whole country and by regions.

Registered cases and deaths from malignant neoplasms in Republic of Bulgaria during the period 2005-2009

The bulletin is prepared on the basis of data from specialized report of registered cases of malignant neoplasms, received from oncology dispensaries in the country and the dispensary unit of UMBAL “G. Stranski” - Pleven and processed by NCHI as a routine annual statistical survey. Data of the NSI on death by cause is used. The data on the registered cases of the observed malignant neoplasms is represented as total and by some of the major groups and single localizations, in accordance with X revision of the International classification of diseases and problems, related to health. The information is systematized on national and regional level, as well as by gender and in total and the accent is put on the newly registered cases of malignant neoplasms and their morbidity rate. The information is presented in tables and in graphs.

The author presents several theoretical-methodological formulations to calculate the expenditures in healthcare contracting. The methods “top to bottom”; “bottom to top” and “Compromise” are used. Attention is drawn to original documents and methodological studies of the British system of healthcare (NHS), which (after an adaptation) could be suitable for application in Bulgarian healthcare.
